For those who are aware, voting for minorities in larger populations has been and is currently being suppressed to decrease voter turnout. I decided to get involved and use this image of the civil rights icon, John Lewis, to raise awareness and also raise funds to help. Through Facebook donations, we were able to raise $550 that went directly to The Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, a very active organization in D.C. that fights for voter rights. The arc of moral justice may be long, but this fight for the basic right to vote seems achievable if we all keep the pressure on.
